 Nearly all Bowling Clubs are on the look our for new members and you will be welcomed with open arms, young and old alike.  Every member of a club will have their own ideas on how to play Lawn Bowls and will give plenty of advice on the matter, and while helpful, it is best to take advise from the club coach, he/she will know the best approach to the game.

Anyone and everyone can learn to play lawn bowls, all you need is to have access to some bowls and these are usually readily available at any bowling club if you apporoach them with the idea of playing bowls. Indeed, many clubs have special 'Family' days or 'Come Have A Try' day where they encourage members of the public to try their hand at learning to play bowls.

 There are many and varied types of Lawn Bowls and just as many varied ideas and discussions on which is the best bowl to play with. Each bowl has a 'Bias' as well as a 'Trajectory', the bias giving the bowl its' turning ability, the trajectory its' line and type of turn. This causes some amusement if you happen to already be somewhat advanced in senior years, but clubs nurure their junior players well, as they are the future of their club, and there are quite a few privilages and advantages given to juniors.

 In New Zealand the surface of the bowling green is a special type of weed which gives a lovely even surface on which to play lawn bowls, and everyone MUST wear smooth soled shoes nuove scarpe da calcio to be allowed to play on these greens.
